A Special Gift

On Christmas Eve, once everyone thought all the gifts were open, Grandpa Bolger had a special surprise. Sitting in the corner of the room was one more gift..."To Johnny and Gavin". By the shape of the package my husband knew right away what the gift was. A special heirloom that he knew would be passed on to any Bolger sons and grandsons. So on Gavin's first Christmas, Grandpa Bolger gave a baseball bat signed by Hank Aaron to the next generation of Bolgers. It is a gift that is priceless and will continued to be passed on from generation to generation.

Gavin is that you?

I received a startling picture from great-grandma Stern. At first glance I swore this was my son, I mean I really thought it was Gavin. However the clothing gave it away and told me this photo was taken earlier...30 plus years earlier. This is daddy, but the similarities to Gavin are uncanny.

Our Little Bugs

Halloween this year consisted of dressing the twins up as a bumble bee and ladybug and then simply taking some photos, visiting daddy at work, and getting a baby Halloween basket from grandma. They were in their costumes a total of probably 30 minutes. First off the outfits were a little too small (who would have thought 9 month old clothing wouldn't fit TWIN 6 month olds) and second they were roasting in them (who would have thought it would be 70 degrees on Halloween in WI)! However, if I do say so myself the pictures turned out pretty cute and were worth the price of the custumes.

A 6 Month Celebration

This past Wednesday Gavin and Evelyn celebrated their half birthday. Well, I actually think mom and dad did more celebrating, rejoicing that that they have survived 6 months of double trouble! Here are a few updates from the Bolger household.

Evelyn

Nicknames: Evi (long debate; I like it pronounced with a short E and daddy is strange and likes it pronouced with a long E), Squirt, Peanut

Likes: Eating baby food(haven't found a food she doesn't like), rolling, peek-a-boo, playing with people, talking, her snugli
Dislikes: poopy pants, being left alone, waiting for her food, Gavin pulling her hair

Gavin

Nicknames: Gav, Gavman, Buster, Buddy
Likes: Bottles, being in his saucer toy, being tickled,Pulling Evi's hair
Dislikes: peaches, being startled, being left alone

Mom and Dad

Mom and Dad have some how managed to still have a "life" outside of raising twins. They enjoyed a trip to Madison to watch the Badgers play a few weeks ago. Although the Badgers lost they enjoyed some much needed adult time.

Daddy loves hunting and is making sure he gets amble time out in the woods bow hunting and gun hunting.

Mommy has joined a "New Mom's Groups" and has recently decided to earn some extra money working her Mary Kay business. Do you need a facial or new look?

A Day at the Apple Orchard

It was a beautiful fall day in western Wisconsin and a perfect day to take the twins apple picking. Just a few miles from our home is Cain's Apple Orchard. Dad was gone golfing for the day, but Aunt Kelly and cousins Miranda, Olivia, Jessica, Lindsey, and Luke were able to join us for a day of fall fun.

We took a tractor ride out to the orchard to pick Cortland and Honey Golden apples.

5 Month Stats

This week our babies had their 5 month old appointment, and boy do they continue to grow! Gavin is in the 90% tile for height and 75% tile for weight weighing in at 16lbs. and 4oz. Evelyn isn't far behind at 15lbs. putting herself in the 50% tile for weight and 75% tile for height.

Our docter seemed very impressed that they were still getting mainly breastmilk and have been doing well since they started rice cereal. He even approved vegetables and fruits! Both kiddos now love sweet potatoes for dinner.

This week we finally dropped their 11pm bottle. I was a little nervous thinking that this would cause them to wake up in the the middle of the night hungry, but this doesn't seem to be the case. We have great sleepers! They go to bed at 8:00pm and usually wake up between 7-7:30 am! I guess they are like their mom.

What a difference 5 months makes!

Mama's Back at Work

It looks like time has gotten away from me. It is hard to believe my last post was almost a month again. I guess my excuse would be that now I am a working mom of twins! At the end of August I returned to my job as a Third grade teacher. I must admit that I have been blessed with the best class I've ever had. It truly makes going to work and leaving my little ones much easier. While I love my job, it leaves little time for anything else...like posting on my blog! So here are a few updates...

Gavin is definitely our physical one. He is constantly rolling from his back to his stomach and holds his head up super high. He has even managed to roll himself on top of Evelyn on the floor and has wrapped his fingers around her hair. This doesn't make his sister very happy. Gavin may be physically strong, but he sure does get scared easily. Every small noise seems to startle him and make him jump.

Evelyn continues to be the vocal twin. She enjoys "singing", more like screeching, talking, cooing, scolding, and blowing bubbles. She too can roll, but seems to enjoy more of her time on her back sticking pretty much everything into her mouth.

Both Gavin and Evelyn are now also cereal eaters. They have cereal twice a day and seem to love it. Gavin is a bigger eater then Evelyn, but what's new...he's a boy.
